Early Years Foundation Stage

The EYFS Framework exists to support all professionals working within the Early Years Sector,  which was developed with a number of Early Years experts and parents.

In 2012 the framework was revised to make it clearer and easier to use, with more focus on the things that matter most. This new framework also has a greater emphasis on the role of helping a child develop.

SCA offer a variety of courses aimed at giving you the information and skills to support children within the framework.


Introduction to the 'EYFS' Course

This course is aimed at practitioners working in line with Ofsted or Agencies (CMA) registered within the Early Years Sector. If you are new or need a refresher course on the 'Early Years Foundation Stage' requirement this course is for you, Practitioner's will gain an understanding of the 'statutory framework' and 'development matters' as these set the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five.

Description:

This course is for childminder's/other professional's new to the Early Years Foundation Stage and aims to familiarise yourself with the statutory requirements, materials and overarching principles which underpin working with children aged 0-5 years in Agency/Ofsted registered Early Years Foundation Stage settings. 

This course is suitable for all Early Years Foundation Stage childminders/other practitioners,

 * Gain an understanding of the Themes and Principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage
 * Understand legal obligations as set out in the Statutory Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage 
 * Become familiar with the Areas of Learning and Development and Characteristics of Effective Learning
 * Be introduced to the recommended assessment materials used to make formal and informal assessments of children.
 * Reflect on own knowledge and identify areas for personal professional development.

Course Costs:    

SCA Childminders £15.00 per person

Other professionals £25.00 per person


Observations, Assessments & Planning

This course is aimed at practitioners working in line with Ofsted or Agencies (CMA) registered within the Early Years Sector who have an understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Assessment plays an important part in helping parents, carers and practitioners to recognise children's progress, understand their needs, and to plan activities and support.
